The Last Sweet Potato

There it is...the last sweet potato from our harvest last fall.  We cooked it up last week and boy, was it good!

AJ's Book Report

AJ had his first book report project this month.  He read one of the Magic Treehouse books and then had to create a story board displaying the plot, setting, theme, etc. I read the book also so I could double check that he actually understood the book and he did!  He also did the board all by himself. I only helped with spelling of a few words.  VERY PROUD of how far he has come not only with his reading (almost on grade level) but more importantly, his comprehension of what he is reading.

Memory Verse

The girls shared in church on Sunday, a memory verse they learned in Sunday School.  Very proud of them!

Planting Time

It's a bit early, but the tomatoes we planted inside in January were taking over our house so the girls and I planted them in the garden last week.  We've had to cover them already once but they were dying in the pots so we had to get them out.
Ready for planting

Some egg shells from our lovely hens go in the hole first to help combat blossom rot

Essie's turn

A little H2O

All tucked in

The ladies have now been sequestered to the A-frame, much to their chagrin, in order to keep them out of the garden.
At least one of the ladies had fun in the grass

Spring Break with Cousins-part 2

We spent Friday and Saturday morning enjoying the hotel's pool with the cousins.  The hot tub was broken, much to the disappointment of the ladies in our group, but we did brave the pool for a few minutes to pacify our kids.

His shirt says "Mommy's Little Firecracker"

He wasn't so sure about this wet stuff

See, I did get in!

After a swim, Caleb hit the hay

And then woke up to eat, but couldn't finish lunch

I had to take a picture of my sweet Essie (sorry the back lighting is so bad)
She cleaned off one of the kids' lunch tables without being asked.
Such a good helper!

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen a happier baby

Eating lunch on Saturday before we all headed our separate ways.
Caleb was seriously considering Meemaw's sub & chips.

As you can tell, I great time was had by all.  Pretty sure we will be doing this more when the kids' school breaks line up.

Spring Break with the Cousins-part 1

The kids and I headed to Indy for a few days last week to meet up with my Mom, Sisters and their kids. It took us an hour to make the 10 minute drive from the hotel to the Indianapolis Children's Museum's free night.  Apparently we weren't the only ones who heard the museum was free.

Guess who greeted us inside the door-Bumblebee!

Caleb enjoyed his view of the museum

Dinosaurs!

The girls dressed up like dinosaurs and sitting on the eggs to keep them warm

The kids weren't sure what this thing on the wall was

The kids could climb under the train tables and pop up inside the exhibit

This was an amazing glass exhibit and underneath the kids could play with plastic replicas

On to the Terracotta Warrior exhibit.
I was the obnoxious parent that kept saying "I've seen the real ones!"

Then the coolest exhibit (in my opinion) the Hot Wheels room
