Kmart.com posted some killer deals the end of last week and my order came in the week (in 2 batches). I bought 13 pairs of shoes for $56, with free shipping. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! You can't beat that for NEW shoes. Most will be for next summer and I ordered them a size big for all the kids. I did score a pair of brown sandals for myself for $3.99. I decided I deserved it for all my bargain hunting.
Deals to note: Soccer cleats for AJ-$4.99; Rainboots for girls $4.99 ea
I was also at Wal-Mart today and found girl's flip flops for $1. Sorry, no pic but wanted to mention the deal so you could keep an eye out at your local WallyWorld. =)
Had to post a few more pics of the projects we worked on last week with my parents. My parents brought a ton (and by a ton, I mean about 10 boxes) of produce from their garden that needed to be canned/frozen. It is so much more fun to work on projects like this with family. I didn't get many pictures because we were too busy. We put up 12 pint bags of corn for my parents (and for my sister Kel to confiscate for her family), 21 quarts of green beans, 12 pint bags of shredded zucchini, 12 pints of salsa and 16 pints of zucchini relish. We also ate corn on the cob all weekend. Love it!

Tomato Sauce
Just a few of the many pints of zucchini relish we did. WOULD NOT have been able to do this without my parents helping with all the chopping & grating.
It wouldn't be a weekend with my parents, if I didn't have some project for my Dad and me to work on. This past weekend, it was putting a fence around my garden. Probably overkill, but I was tired of the clan of neighborhood children running through my garden and I want to let my chickens have the run of the place over the winter. Everything is pretty much done in my garden for the year, except my tomatoes and most of them are in a separate garden space. I do have a few tomatoes in the front of my garden, but they have been cordoned off with chicken wire.

The blue tarp was a little run we rigged up for the chickens in the corn patch
My Dad laying out the posts
We borrowed this driller but as we soon learned, it really can't do much in packed, clay soil
Everytime I see this picture, I just hear "I'm Sexy and I Know It" in my head.
Here's the problem-hard, packed, clay dirt
So what should have taken an hour to drill 5 post holes, ended up taking 1.5 days.
We ended up drilling a bit, pouring water in each hole, then drilling again. We had to let the water sit overnight to get down 2 feet...Unbelievable!
The peanut gallery offering unsolicited advice
We finally got the fence up on day 2 and put AJ & his friend Jamin to work tearing out the old run that ran from the coop to the A-frame (blue tarp)
The little girls snuck out to explore
And once 2 got out, there was not keeping the other 3 in
It took us another few hours to finish the gate, but I couldn't help but let the girls explore the rest of the garden. They were having so much fun!
AJ helping Grandpa work on the gate.
As the day turned into evening, I decided the kids' help was best served not next to me asking a million questions about why this was taking so long so I put them to work, digging up our potato harvest.

Sorry, Libby, you are out of luck!
As the sun was setting, we finally got it done!
Still need to tear down the old A-frame but the girls have loved all the extra space the last few days. Couldn't have done it without my Dad!
Our babies turn 7 years old today. I can't believe it! We've graduated from booster seats and first bikes. We celebrated over the weekend, since my parents were here. We were also surprised on Saturday when my sister Jen and her family pulled in the driveway. We had a full house with Matt's parents and sister here as well, which was a great way to celebrate the girls' birthday. I know my kids feel loved when they have lots of family around them to celebrate their birthdays because they talk about it long after their special day.
Matt made another spectacular cake!
Meemaw & Grandpa bought the Brave playset that was around the cake
and new t-shirts with fun socks!
Grandpa & Grandma Kinnell bought new Brave lunch boxes and princess t-shrits
Sorry for not posting lately, I've been sick all week. Finally feeling a bit better so had to boast on my deal of the week. Staples had these reams of Hammermill Copy Plus paper for $2 each after a $4.99 rebate. And guess who had a $2 off coupon...ME! Therefore the paper was free and the pencils were their hot buy of the week for back to school- 1¢ each. So everything in the picture cost me 4¢. Can't beat that!
